All-rounder Jalaj Saxena, a resident of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, has made a special record in the Duleep Trophy. 32-year-old Jalaj, who played first-class cricket for Kerala, has now joined the elite club of veterans.
Jalaj, who has played 113 first-class cricket matches so far, has scored more than 6000 runs and more than 300 wickets. With this special record, he has joined the list of veterans like Kapil Dev, CK Naidu, Lala Amarnath, Vijay Hazare, Polly Umrigar. All of them took more than 6000 runs and more than 300 wickets in their domestic cricket.
However, in this list, Jalaj is the only player who has not got a place in the national team so far. In his career of 14 years, Jalaj has always contributed to the team with his bat and ball. On the question of not being selected in the national team, Jalaj says, ‘It is not in my hand, it is the job of the selectors to give whoever it is. My job is just to play cricket and give my best.
Jalaj was included in the IPL by Delhi Capitals this year, but could not find a place in the playing XI for the entire season. Jalaj has also received two BCCI Awards for his performance in 2017-18.
Not only this, Jalaj is the first Indian and sixth player in the world to score a century in a first-class match twice and take 8 wickets.
